Cultural and affinity graduation celebrations are open to all eligible graduates who wish to participate, offering a unique and meaningful way to commemorate this milestone. Whether you choose to join one or multiple celebrations, these events provide an opportunity to reflect on your journey and share this special moment with loved ones.

The Asian & Pacific Islander (API) and Southwest Asian North African (SWANA) Graduation Celebration at California State University, Dominguez Hills is a joyous and inclusive event that honors the achievements of graduating students while fostering a strong sense of community and belonging. Open to all graduates, their families, and loved ones, this celebration recognizes academic and personal milestones, highlights shared experiences, and acknowledges the support systems that have helped students succeed. Rooted in connection and cultural appreciation, the event embraces students from the API and SWANA communities, while warmly welcoming everyone who wishes to celebrate this special moment together. As part of the ceremony, we proudly present two awards: The Donald T. Hata 'Poised to Prevail' Award, recognizing a CSUDH faculty member, administrator, staff, or alumnus for their dedication to uplifting students, and the Journey to Success Student Award, honoring an exceptional graduating student for their leadership and commitment to community engagement. We invite you to join us in celebrating resilience, culture, and achievement, as we recognize the diverse journeys that have led our graduates to this proud moment.

The 30th Frederick Douglass & Mary McLeod Bethune Africana Graduation Celebration is an all-student welcome event, distinguished with cultural and academic ceremony designed to honor the achievements of graduating students while celebrating the rich heritage of the African Diaspora. Rooted in African-centered traditions, this event provides graduates, their families, friends, and the university community with a unique and meaningful opportunity to commemorate this pivotal milestone in a culturally affirming space.
The Douglass-Bethune Graduation Celebration is an inclusive event, welcoming all students, regardless of ethnicity, identity, or background, who wish to participate in an enriching ceremony that centers Black culture, excellence, and achievement. By fostering a sense of unity, pride, and collective success, this celebration serves as an enduring testament to the resilience and brilliance of CSUDH’s diverse student body.
This celebration recognizes the academic excellence, perseverance, and accomplishments of students as they transition into the next chapter of their personal and professional journeys. Raíces Fuertes, Sueños Sin Límites (Strong Roots, Limitless Dreams) - Our roots ground us, our dreams propel us forward. This year’s theme honors the strength and resilience of Latine graduates who have forged their own paths while carrying the wisdom of their ancestors and the support of their families. This bilingual celebration (Spanish and English) highlights cultural heritage through performances, guest speakers, and personal stories. Graduates receive a spiritual blessing and have the opportunity to share heartfelt acknowledgments with loved ones. Open to all undergraduate and graduate students, this celebration uplifts, empowers, and sends graduates off with pride and inspiration.

The Lavender Graduation at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is a special ceremony dedicated to celebrating the academic achievements and contributions of LGBTQIA+ students. This event honors the unique journeys of graduates within the LGBTQIA+ community, recognizing their resilience, strength, and the importance of diversity in higher education. Lavender Graduation is an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ students to come together with their peers, faculty, staff, and families to celebrate their accomplishments and reflect on the significance of their academic experiences. This inclusive event fosters a sense of belonging and community, while highlighting the diverse identities that enrich our campus culture. Graduates will receive a Lavender Graduation stole, a symbol of pride and achievement, to wear during the ceremony and beyond. The Lavender Graduation at CSUDH is not only a celebration of individual success but also a testament to the power of unity, love, and acceptance in the university environment.
